Esaote Europe is based in the south of the Netherlands in the beautiful
historic city of Maastricht.
The history of the Esaote Branch in Maastricht started in 1976,
after graduation of two electronic engineers who decided to establish
their own company, which they called PIE DATA. The name PIE is an
abbreviation for something long since forgotten. First company targets
were designing and building electronic circuits for some major Dutch
companies. Those years were the keystone development of know-how,
including a digital scan converter: the heart of an ultrasound scanner.
From this point it was a logical step to develop not only the electronics
but to design complete products, tailor made to meet the market
demands.

As time went on, in the late seventees the activities focussed on
development and production of own designs. Some major OEM contracts
were signed and the company, now boasting all of 12 people was rapidly
running out of space. Till then a suburban mansion served as office
and lab and in addition a nearby location was used for production.
Since the beginning the number of employees doubled or even tripled
every two years . In 1982, Pie Medical purchased a defunct Philips
vacuum tube factory of 400mē, which itself rapidly became too limited
and since mid 1996 another building was added.These premises are still
the headquarters of Esoate Europe today, with a daughter-company Proton
in a separate building in a village 30Km north of Maastricht. The
Esaote Europe headquarters are conveniently located near the modern
Maastricht Academic Hospital, congress-facilities and in a region
were one can spend pleasant days, enjoying good food and a relaxed
but very international atmosphere. |

As the market became aware that Pie Medical provided tailor made
solutions for specialised applications, such as veterinary diagnostics,
the company expanded its own network for marketing. In 1984 Pie
Medical became a public company and shares were traded on the Amsterdam
stock exchange. This enabled the company to invest in the most modern
technology needed to stay ahead in the highly competitive field
of small systems ultrasound.
Since 1998 Pie Medical is part of the Esaote Group, which designs,
manufactures, markets and services non-invasive diagnostic medical
imaging systems worldwide. The Esaote Group is the leading manufacturer
of diagnostic ultrasound equipment. Group headquarters are located
in Genoa, Italy. Product manufacturing is centered in the plants
at Genoa and Florence, Italy and Maastricht, The Netherlands. Since
april 2006 Pie Medical is called ESAOTE EUROPE.
At this time one can say that over a period of 30 years Esoate Europe
has built a reputation for providing the veterinary practice with
high quality, yet affordable, ultrasound scanners. To maintain this
reputation, Esoate Europe continues to work closely with the profession,
building a synergy where new technology fosters a demand of ever-greater
diagnostic value.
In all this, the long relationship with the distributor network
has always played an important role. Regular trainings, the yearly
distributor sales-meeting and intensive communication between a
team of young and dedicated professionals at the headquarters, of
Esoate Europe in Maastricht, with an equally professional and dedicated
worldwide distributor-network ensure that customers can rely on
the Esaote products for many years to come.
